Frequently Asked Questions
GPA = Total Quality Points / Total Credit Hours. Quality points for each class = Grade Points × Credit Hours. For example, an A (4.0) in a 3-credit class = 12 quality points.
A/A+ = 4.0, A- = 3.7, B+ = 3.3, B = 3.0, B- = 2.7, C+ = 2.3, C = 2.0, C- = 1.7, D+ = 1.3, D = 1.0, D- = 0.7, F = 0.0.
3.0+ is generally considered good. 3.5+ is very good (often Dean's List). 3.7+ is excellent. 3.9+ is exceptional. Standards vary by school and program.
On the standard 4.0 scale, both A and A+ are worth 4.0. Some schools use a 4.3 scale where A+ = 4.3, but this is less common.
Credit hours weight each grade. A 4-credit class counts twice as much as a 2-credit class. This means doing well in high-credit courses has a bigger impact on your GPA.
